前不久，韩国统计厅发布的《2018年出生统计(确定版)》显示，该国合计生育率仅为0.98，即平均一名女子终生生产不足1名子女，成世界唯一出生率进入“零时代”的国家。放眼全球，不少国家都像韩国一样，面临着逐渐恶化的生育危机。其中一些国家就通过财政补贴来激励年轻人生育下一代。

Since 2013， every new-born baby in Lestijärvi， one of the smallest municipalities in Finland， has been ‘worth’ €10，000。

自2013年以来，在芬兰最小的城市之一Lestijärvi，每个新生儿都“值”1万欧元。

That’s when Lestijärvi’s administrators decided to fight back against the declining birth rate and shrinking population in the village， in which only one child had been born the previous year。 The municipality introduced an incentive called the ‘baby bonus’： any resident who gave birth would be entitled to €10，000， paid over 10 years。

It’s taken off： nearly 60 children have since been born in the municipality。 Compared to the prior seven years in which only 38 children were born， the new babies are a big boost to this village of fewer than 800 people。

Still， despite these local incentives， Finland’s national birth rate is struggling。 As in many other European countries， it has decreased significantly in the last decade： in 2018， it hit a record low of 1.4 children per woman， compared to the ‘replacement rate’ of 2.1。 Ten years before that， it stood at 1.85。

尽管各地都有激励措施，芬兰的全国出生率仍在苦苦挣扎。与许多其他欧洲国家一样，在过去十年中，这里生育率大幅下降：2018年的生育率为1.4，创历史新低，“人口替换率”为2.1。而十年前，生育率是1.85。

芬兰的家庭福利可以说在世界上处于领先水平。政府会给新手父母准备好育婴箱，里面有衣物、尿布、毛巾、玩具等各种新生儿必需品。

孩子出生后每个月可以领100欧元的补贴，产假高达9个月，而且这期间工资要付70%。如今再加上生一个给1万欧的激励措施，为什么形势还是没有太大的改善呢?

很多人认为，这是因为人们的生育观念已经改变了。老一辈们会念叨“没有孩子人生不完整”、“养儿防老”，而经济愈来愈独立的新时代青年会说，“都是第一次做人，开心最重要”。

于是，在知乎上，有关“为什么越来越多的女性不愿意生孩子”的话题下，回答越来越多。

有人说产后抑郁症很可怕，有人说丧偶式育儿更可怕，还有的担心自己的学业、事业会因此受阻。

对美国女孩弗莱舍来说，她的理由更简单：她从来没觉得自己想要当妈。

Mikaela Fleisher， 31， who lives in Harrisburg， Pennsylvania， said motherhood never felt natural。

31岁的米凯拉·弗莱舍住在宾夕法尼亚州的哈里斯堡，她说，她从来都不觉得自己会成为一个母亲。

“I have never felt drawn to have children of my own，” Fleisher said。

弗莱舍说：“有自己的孩子对我来说没有什么吸引力。”

Beyond not feeling connected to parenthood， Fleisher also enjoys the freedom of living a childfree life。 When she is not working as a receptionist at a local animal hospital， Fleisher volunteers with animal rescue organizations and sleeps in on her days off。 She also has chronic migraines， so she says caring for herself without also caring for a child works best for her life。

除了没有亲子关系的感觉外，弗莱舍还特别享受没有孩子的自由生活。她在一家兽医院前台工作，休息时会去动物救援组织做志愿者，休息日睡一整天懒觉也没问题。她还有慢性偏头痛，所以她说把自己照顾好对她来说就已经是最好的生活了。

“Just because society tells us that we should grow up， get married and have children does not mean that it‘s the right thing for everyone to do，” Fleisher said。

弗莱舍说：“仅仅在世俗眼光里我们该长大了，该结婚生子了，并不意味着这就是适合每个人的生活方式。”
